Community Guidelines
Effective Date: 10 April 2026 · Version 1.0
Professional standards for the CounselConnect community of Kenyan advocates.
CounselConnect is a professional community of Kenyan advocates and legal professionals. These Guidelines establish the standards of conduct expected of all Members. They supplement our User Agreement and are enforced alongside it. Violations may result in content removal, account suspension, or permanent ban — and in serious cases, referral to the Law Society of Kenya Disciplinary Committee.
1. Professional Standards
As a community of legal professionals, CounselConnect Members are expected to uphold the highest standards of professional conduct in all interactions on the Platform.
1.1 Respectful Communication

5. Groups & Channels
5.1 Group Governance
Group owners and administrators are responsible for establishing and enforcing group-specific rules that are consistent with these Community Guidelines. Group rules may be more restrictive than Platform-wide policies but may not be more permissive.
5.2 Moderator Responsibilities
- Moderators must enforce group rules fairly and consistently;
- Moderators must not abuse their powers (e.g., removing members for personal reasons, selectively enforcing rules);
- Moderators must escalate serious violations to CounselConnect support;
- Moderators are responsible for ensuring group content complies with Platform policies.
5.3 Channel Conduct
Channel participants must follow channel-specific topics and rules. Off-topic, promotional, or disruptive content may be removed by channel moderators.

6.3 Moderation Actions
We may take the following actions in response to violations:
- Removing or restricting the visibility of specific content;
- Adding warning labels to content;

- Temporarily suspending the account;
- Permanently banning the account;
- Reporting to law enforcement or the LSK Disciplinary Committee.
7. Consequences of Violations
Consequences are proportionate to the severity and frequency of the violation. We generally follow a progressive enforcement approach:
| Level | Action | Typical Violations |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Warning | Content removed; Member notified of the violation and relevant policy | Minor policy violations, first-time offences, borderline content |
| 2. Temporary Restriction | Posting, messaging, or other feature restrictions for a defined period (7-30 days) | Repeat minor violations, moderate policy violations, harassment |
| 3. Temporary Suspension | Full account suspension for a defined period (30-90 days) | Serious policy violations, continued violations after warnings, fraud attempts |
| 4. Permanent Ban | Account permanently terminated; cannot create new accounts | Severe violations, criminal activity, confirmed fraud, hate speech, threats of violence |
| 5. External Referral | Reported to LSK Disciplinary Committee, law enforcement, or other authorities | Practising without a licence, criminal fraud, serious professional misconduct, imminent harm |
Note: CounselConnect reserves the right to skip levels and immediately impose severe consequences for egregious violations. We are not required to follow the progressive approach in all cases.
